Terri Schiavo's Brain Scans are Fake

    What Promise did Michael Keep?

A shunt is a tube inserted into the brain to reduce pressure caused by build-up of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain. These next two scans are to give the reader some idea of what a shunt looks like in a scan of the brain.

    http://www.ispub.com/xml/journals/ijs/vol9n2/vp-fig1.jpg

    http://www.jkns.or.kr/fulltext/Fig/0042001263f5.jpg

The thing that must be clarified from the beginning is Theresa Schiavo had an implant but it wasn't a shunt.

According to Michael Schiavo's November 19, 1993 deposition, case No. 90-2908-GD:
Q Okay. Tell me about Doctor Hosobuchi and his treatment of Terry?

A Well, the basic thing was we took her to California. He had some experimental stimulators that- he was placing in peoples' heads. There were some people that woke up. It's a whole protocol on it. I don't have it with me. But it would be very experimental. He put it in. He did some testing. There was no evidence of it working with Terry. The only thing it would do, when he turned it up passed a certain point Terry would just sit up, which was just motor response. She would just get real bright eyed because things were being stimulated. He wasn't thrilled about it because he didn't see any positive signs.

Q Was -- did he implant anything into her? Did he put anything in her head that remained?

    A Yes.

    Q Are they still?

    A Yes.

    Q What are they?

    Page 26:

    A Electrodes. They're platinum electrodes.

    http://www6.miami.edu/ethics2/schiavo/2%20CTs.png

CT scans showing, left, a normal brain and, right, Ms. Schiavo's brain, giving evidence of extensive cortical regions filled with spinal fluid. The image on the right was made in 2002. The bright spot near the center is an intrathalmic stimulator placed in her brain in December 1990 in San Francisco, when her husband was seeking aggressive medical treatment.

    According to Ken Goodman site
http://www6.miami.edu/ethics2/schiavo/Schiavo_links.htm  , the above  brain scan with the shiny object belongs to Theresa "Terri" Schiavo.

I have to wonder at this point, why was the area around the scan blacked out? And WHY would one do that without first flipping the scan, to show that the shiny object is in fact on the left side?

This CT image is "flipped" (i.e. the CT scan is mirror-image backwards which is just an inconsequential error made when scanning the image into the computer), so the right side is LEFT and vice versa.

Thanks to reader "primer" I've been directed to the University of Miami Ethics program website where they posted this image from a CT scan of Terri Schiavo's brain in 1996. The sentence attached to the link for this scan on the site says:

CT scan of Ms. Schiavo's brain, showing extensive cortical regions filled with spinal fluid.
    http://codeblueblog.blogs.com/codeblueblog/2005/03/csi_medblogs_co.html

Why is there a shunt in Terri's ventricle?

    IS THIS REALLY TERRI'S CT?

IF it is then her atrophy is SEVERE, BUT not as bad as has been implicated by the press and the courts

IF it is then why did she have hydrocephalus six years after her non traumatic infarction

IF it is... why was she shunted...AND IS SHE STILL shunted? IF not, why was the shunt removed?

IF it is, why does the Second District Court NOT mention Terri's hydrocephalus in it's dissertation on Terri's woeful cerebral condition??

IF Terri DOES have hydrocephalus from ventricle blockage, was there trauma that caused bleeding that lead to hydrocephalus on the basis of a blood clot obstructing ventricular outflow?

IF so, what was that trauma?

IF Terri had hydrocephalus in 1996, she may still have hydrocephalus now; some patients with hydrocephalus respond to shunting with increased mental functioning!

IF THIS IS NOT TERRI'S CT THEN WHERE IS HER CT?
    http://codeblueblog.blogs.com/codeblueblog/2005/03/csi_medblogs_co.html

I have a question! Where are the real Terri Schiavo brain scans?

DR. RONALD CRANFORD, UNIV. OF MN NEUROLOGIST: I'm extremely confident. I think at the time of the trial in 2002 there had been eight neurologists who examined her. And of those eight neurologists total, seven of them said beyond any doubt whatsoever Terri is in a vegetative state. Her CT scan shows severe atrophy or shrinkage of the brain. Her EEG is flat and there's absolutely no doubt that she's been in a permanent vegetative state ever since 1990. There's no doubt whatsoever, Dan. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7328639/

I was cleaning my office the other night and came across a DVD my friend had sent to me awhile back. It was A&E's  documentary on the Terri Schiavo case. It was more than a little scratched up but I decided I would put it in  computer's DVD player and see what happen. It played perfect! As a result of listening, and an occasional glance toward the screen, I saw the above scan dated May 9, 1996. Being my daughter had been buried on May 9, 1993, that date sort of stuck out from my computer screen. Looking closer, I realized that the 'shiny' object ,that shows in the brain scans that Ken Goodman, and Ronald Cranford released to the public as being that of Terri Schiavo, could not be seen in this scan. And though the brain scan showed brain damage it did not appear to show the same degree of damage. Seeing this I decided to stop cleaning and watch the rest of the DVD.

The scan above was one of many scans on the DVD. All were labeled  as belonging to Theresa Schiavo 1996.

While deep brain stimulation raises some issues in common with older bioethics, such as access to care, informed consent, and insurance coverage, this technology affects an entire brain circuit, bringing the risk of unforeseen consequences. Such effects could be either neurological or behavioral; neuroscience has not yet learned the full workings of even one complete circuit in the brain.

thalamus (thăl'əməs) , mass of nerve cells centrally located in the brain just below the cerebrum and resembling a large egg in size and shape. The thalamus is a routing station for all incoming sensory impulses except those of smell, transmitting them to higher (cerebral) nerve centers. In addition, it connects various brain centers with others. Thus the thalamus is a major integrative complex, enabling sensory stimuli to evoke appropriate physical reactions as well as to affect emotions. With the hypothalamus, the thalamus establishes levels of sleep and wakefulness. It is also vital to the neural feedback system controlling brain wave rhythms.

The subgaleal shunt has been and is currently used for the temporary bypass of the normal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pathways. We retrospectively reviewed all subgaleal shunts placed at the Children's Hospital, Birmingham, Ala., USA, from 1993 to the present and examined the life expectancy of revisions of this temporary method of CSF diversion. The average length of survival of primary, secondary and tertiary subgaleal shunts in this population was 37.4, 32.4 and 19.6 days, respectively. This current review demonstrates that the majority of patients in whom a subgaleal shunt is utilized may continue to obtain therapeutic diversion of their CSF for greater than 2.5 months with intermittent subgaleal shunt revisions. In the majority of cases, this length of time is sufficient to manage and resolve issues that would make ventriculoperitoneal shunting undesirable.

    Schiavo Implant Potentially Dangerous

    by Janice Sanford

When a reporter did an article in the St. Petersburg Times, Feb 17,1991. pg.3, about Terri's surgery in which Yoshio Hosobuchi of the University of California at San Francisco in December(1990) implanted a neurological thalamic stimulator in her brain, they reported:

"The brain stimulator implant was a success, said her husband, Mike. Mrs. Schiavo is slowly emerging from the coma at the Mediplex Medical Center, a neurological care center in Bradenton, he said. She will undergo at least a year of speech, occupational and physical therapy."

Schiavo: She spent three months there. Then, while she was there, we heard of this doctor in California here that was doing experimental surgery, implanting stimulators in people's brains in hopes to stimulate any activity.

Now, we were told with this, too (Ph) when this doctor looked at the CAT scans, that it was probably not going to work Because there's just no brain left. But I did it anyway, because I loved Terri. And I wanted to bring my wife back. I wanted to have my wife back in me.

So I flew her out to California by myself, with a nurse. And I spent a month there. They inserted the stimulator.

    KING: Didn't work?

SCHIAVO: No, it eventually didn't work, no. The protocol for the stimulator was three months. I kept it on her for a year.

From Medical Examiner Jon R. Thogmartin autopsy report on Theresa Schiavo:

...In the left chest wall is an implanted medical device with a wire extending through subcutaneous tissues of the left neck and into the left scalp. A flat, four-prong electrical device is in the subgaleal area of the left scalp. A wire then further extends into the cranial cavity...

Note: subgaleal area, is the area above the skull or within the scalp layer of the head; ...

Stephen J. Nelson,M.D. (Page 1, last paragraph) Neuropathology Gross Description:

...A 9 centimeter long implanted neurological thalamic stimulator wire extended outward from the right parietal bone and it was surrounded by a 1 centimeter bony nodule on the inner table. This wire was traced and its tip terminated in the right thalamus...

    Question:

Forget about comparing brains for a minute. Where's all the wire and stuff that Dr. Nelson and Medical Examiner Jon R. Thogmartin are describing in their report? ) Chronic deep brain stimulation in its present US FDA - approved manifestation is a patient - controlled treatment for tremor that consists of a multi-electrode lead implanted into the ventro intermediate nucleus of the thalamus.

The lead is connected to a pulse generator that is surgically implanted under the skin in the upper chest.

And an extension wire from the electrode lead is threaded from the scalp area under the skin to the chest where it is connected to the pulse generator. Most users turn the unit off at night. The stimulus parameters can be adjusted to provide the best response and minimize adverse reactions.

The pulse generator must be replaced to change batteries, which should last five years.

Risks of DBS ( Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery are intracranial bleeding, infection, and loss of function.
    http://www/pallidotomy.com/deep_brain_stimulation.html

Dr. Nelson seemed to think it was necessary to put in Terri's autopsy report a reason why she "had not undergone an MRI scan of her brain, rather than only a brain scan while alive":

"The FDA has received several reports of serious injury, including coma and permanent neurological impairment, in patients with implanted neurological stimulators who underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures. The mechanism for these adverse events is likely to involve heating of the electrodes at the end of the leadwires, resulting in injury to the surrounding tissue. Although these reports involved deep brain stimulators and vagus nerve stimulators, similar injuries could be caused by any type of implanted neurological stimulator, such as spinal cord stimulators, peripheral nerve stimulators, and neuromuscular stimulators".
    http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/safety/neurostim.html

One would assume from the autopsy, that an MRI is never done on a patient with an implanted neurological stimulator.

The following is taking from the same report Dr. Nelson quoted from: If an MRI procedure is to be performed on a patient with an implanted neurological stimulator, be sure to review the labeling for the specific model that is implanted in the patient, with particular attention to warnings and precautions. The radiologist may need to consult with the implanting or monitoring physician for this information. Also note and follow any instructions exactly for MRI imaging that may be in the labeling for the implant, including information on types and/or strengths of MRI equipment that may have been tested for interaction with the particular implanted device. The radiologist may need to consult with the device implant manufacturer for this information.
    http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/safety/neurostim.html

According to Michael Schiavo's November 19, 1993 deposition, case No. 90-2908-GD, page 24:

Q And what was the purpose of taking her to California?

A There was some experimental surgery that I heard about.

Q Do you remember the doctor you went to see out there?

    A Doctor Yoshio Hosobuchi.

    Page 25:

Q Okay. Tell me about Doctor Hosobuchi and his treatment of Terry?

    Q Are they still?

    A Yes.

    Q What are they?

    Page 26:

    A Electrodes. They're platinum electrodes.

Q Did he suggest any future treatment that was experimental --

    A Treatment for what?

Q -- in California. Diagnostic testing, anything of that nature?

A No. When Doctor Yingling was here, he came out and, basically, if it didn't work within --

    Page 27:

Q My question was: Was there a suggestion of further diagnostic testing or procedures after the treatment by Doctor Hosobuchi in California?

A As far as I can remember -

    Page 28:

Q Did Doctor Hosobuchi, after he saw Terry, recommend any further diagnostic procedures?

A He recommended that Doctor Yingling would be doing it.

Q So did she see Doctor Yingling?

A She -- Doctor Yingling came out here, I believe, a year later.

Q And that was at the suggestion of Doctor Hosobuchi?

A That, I have no idea.

Q Okay. What did Doctor Yingling say or do, to your knowledge?

A He came out -- Terry was at Mediplex -- he came out and did some testing, and he needed a CP-900 machine or something from Shands, and it wasn't available, and he said it wasn't no big deal. He told me he had -- he didn't see any evident sign that the stimulator was working, did some tests with Terry(i). Nothing was new with her from the time he had last

    Page 29:

seen her. And that was basically it. We took him out to dinner and he had loads of wine and that was it. He spilled it all over our couch.

Q Other than the Doctor Hosobuchi and Doctor Yingling -- was Doctor Yingling also from California?

    A Yes.

Q And he was somebody that Doctor Hosobuchi suggested see Terry?

    A He was Hosobuchi's assistant.

Q Has she seen any other experts since that time?

    A What type of experts?

Q Since Doctor Yingling saw her, what physicians have seen her?

    Page 30:

Q Okay. When was the last time Terry had seen a neurologist?

    Page 31:

A I'd have to look up some records. I don't remember.

    Q. Has it been years?

    A No, I don't think it's been years.

Q Has a neurologist seen her since Doctor Yingling saw her?

    A I don't recall.

Q Have any diagnostic tests been performed since Doctor Yingling saw Terry?

Q Okay. of the neurology strain.

    A I don't recall. There could have been. I don't recall.

According to Schiavo, "The protocol for the stimulator was three months" but he kept it on her for a year" even though he knew that leaving the stimulator on longer than three months could harm or even kill Terri.

Michael Schiavo should still be made to answer for abusing his wife after her brain injury.

Whether or not the implanted neurological stimulator worked, Michael Schiavo should have made sure that Terri had a neurologist following her case.

The implant had the potential to cause intracranial bleeding, infection, and loss of function.

KING: And you've made available for us a brain scan of her, right?

    FELOS: Yes.

It appears that Michael Schiavo and his attorney George Felos released the scan on national television: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0310/27/lkl.00.html  As did Dr. Ronald Cranford.

Why did Felos, Goodman, and Cranford pass an altered brain scan off as Theresa "Terri" Schiavo's???????

The fact is when the scan is turned the right way the shiny object is on the left. According to the autopsy "This wire was traced and its tip terminated in the right thalamus." [Stephen J. Nelson, M.D.]

He told me he had -- he didn't see any evident sign that the stimulator was working, did some tests with Terry(i). Nothing was new with her from the time he had last

The brain implant was placed in Terri Schiavo's brain in December 1990. Terri was returned to Florida in January 1991.

January 29, 1991 - Terri was put in Mediplex Rehabilitation Center in Bradenton, Florida.

July 19, 1991 - Terri was transferred to Sabel Palms Nursing Home. Where she stayed through 1994. It's on Alternate Keene Road in Largo.

Michael Schiavo stated in his 1993 deposition that "Doctor Yingling came out here, I believe, a year later"  it was while "Terry was at Mediplex ." The fact is if Yingling came to Florida to check on Terri Schiavo a year after Terri's brain surgery, he would have come to Florida in 1992. (About six months after Terri had been transferred to Sabel Palms Nursing Home.)

According to Schiavo, "The protocol for the stimulator was three months" but he kept it on her for a year" even though he knew that leaving the stimulator on longer than three months could harm or even kill Terri.

    Page 30:

Interesting that Michael Schiavo couldn't remember whether or not his disabled wife had been seen by a neurologist  between January of 1992 and  November of 1993 but he could remember a detail like: "We took him [Dr. Yingling] out to dinner and he had loads of wine and that was it. He spilled it all over our couch."

Interesting, also, that Michael Schiavo would refer to the couch as "our couch" when at this point he had moved on with his life with another woman. Could Schiavo have been referring to the couch as belonging to himself and Jodi Centonze?

We mustn't forget according to Michael Schiavo:

He would 'hang out' in the office of his orthodontist friend, Alan Shoopak. Alan and his wife had been regulars at Agostino's [Terri the Truth page 83] One day in July 1993, I was visiting Shoopak and a couple of his assistants told me that there was a patient in the waiting room that I'd really like. Her name is Jodi....She had long, beautiful legs. I'm thinking 'Gorgeous girl.' She was dressed in a business suit. Later I learned that she was an agent with a large insurance agency....[Terri the Truth page 84]

For those who might be thinking by "our couch' Michael Schiavo may have been referring to his inlaws, the Schindlers:

February 14,1993 - Terri's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, and Michal Schiavo argue because Michael has not sought out much needed medical help for their daughter like he had promised. This is- also- Jodi Ann Centonze's Birthday.

February 14, 1993-Michael posts "do not resuscitate" order in Terri's medical chart. [Mark Fuhrman, Silent Witness, page 229]

July 29, 1993 - Terri's parent's filed suit in the probate division of the Pinellas County Circuit Court to have Michael removed as Terri's guardian.

      http://justiceforterrischiavo.us/1993.h35.jpg http://justiceforterrischiavo.us/1993.h37.jpg http://justiceforterrischiavo.us/1993.h39.jpg

Was there some other reason Schiavo was in such a hurry to write his wife off as a hopeless case? Why did Michael Schiavo give up on his wife improving six months after the brain surgery, and put her in a nursing home? Who did clean the wine off the couch?

Terri Schiavo supposedly died three years ago. Why isn't her death certificate on file in Florida?

The Terri Schiavo case continues to unfold like an unsolved mystery.

Why hasn't the Schindlers demanded the removal of the fake brain scans? http://justiceforterrischiavo.us/Terri%20Schiavo's%20Brain%20Scans%20are%20Fake.htm

    Last but not least:

Why is it that we have no physical evidence that there ever existed a Terri Schiavo?

    A Reminder

    JUSTICE IN AMERICA

    Written by Janice Sanford

Justice in America is not without its'
    Tears, its' trials, and its' temptations;
It took a whole lot of tears
    To nurture this untamed nation.

    Justice in America
Is not without its' troubling years
There are times when unjust laws
    Causes a river of tears.

    Justice in America sometimes
By its mere presence is made blind
By those who have the awesome duty
Of preserving justice for all times.

Justice in America is not always just-
When deeds of injustice paint justice unkind

But think not with your heart that justice in
    America will completely disappear,
Because some American hearts get broken
    And some Americans are charged
At the hands of injustice with crying a river of tears.

For the wisdom of justice is in knowing
    That justice is made wiser
    In the river of tears
That Americans have shed to keep
    Justice afloat-throughout the unjust years.

Time will not dull the memory of Terri. Neither will time erase from millions of American hearts the memory of her 'life givers' Bob and Mary Schindlers pleading for her life.

How dare any American forget what we as a freedom loving society allowed done to their child.

    From One Mother Another

March 31, 2008 marked the third years since the senseless death of Terri Schiavo. I have not forgotten! I was told that someone had made the comment that since Terri Schiavo has been dead for three years why don't I turn all my attention to cases such as Lauren Richardson's.

    I have but one answer:

If everyone who fought to save Terri Schiavo from her court ordered execution suddenly stopped reminding the public of the injustice Terri and her biological family [the Schindlers] suffered at the hands of a county probate judge, there would be no way to stop the wanton killing of others who have been judged on their quality of life.

Yes, my heart goes out to Lauren, Edith [her biological mother], and Randy [her biological father] , just as it would go out to any one mentally pushed to destroying ones own child as Edith has thus far decided should be her daughter's fate.. This is not a case of an son-in-law seeking to destroy the life that was created inside Mary Schindlers' womb.....The Lauren Richardson  case is about a mother, who like all mothers who love the children they bear, having to accept her failures as well as her acomplishments as a mother, and the bearer of human life.

As a mother who raised six daughters, and lost one of them at the age of 22 years, my heart goes out to Edith. When my daughter was suddenly, without warning, taken from me my heart was burdened. And I continue to think back to times, as a mother, I could have did things a little differently. But thinking back does not, and cannot, bring my daughter back.

I can't tell Edith what to do. She is Lauren's mother. She brought Lauren into the world. But I can tell her that is my daughter had lived, I would have protected her right to the life I had given her without thinking. Because I know how much my daughter loved her life.

My daughter left no child but if she had brought a baby into the world as did Lauren, after her accident- I would still be thanking God until this day for both lives.

I will not involve myself in the case because the one who gave Lauren life is in control of the life that was created inside her womb. I 'm a mother, too.Even though my own views on the issue are closer to those of Lauren's dad Randy. I would ask Edith to PROTECT the life she gave to Lauren, as she watches over the small child Lauren gave life to.

I'm sorry for your pain but your daughter is still alive and she needs you, Edith.

    Terri Was Alive

    Terri Was Alive

Some say Terri Schiavo died in 1990
    from what they do not say;
    Others say the system
took Terri Schiavo's life on a 2005 day.

    What is the truth?
    Who's telling the lie?
    Was Terri Schiavo already dead
when she was forced to die?

    Makes little sense to say
Terri Schiavo was dead any way
to justify forcing her to go thirsty
    and hungry day by day.

    Makes little sense to blame
Terri Schiavo for what the system
    allowed her husband to do:
strip Terri of her dignity and take
    her personhood away.

    Makes no sense to say
    Terri Schiavo wanted to die
When there was no way to know....

    What is the truth?
    Who's telling the lie?
    Was Terri Schiavo already dead
when she was forced to die?

Makes no sense to kill for mercy's sake
[Regardless of her quality of life]
Terri Schiavo's life was not ours to take.

Three years ago others made the decision that robbed Terri Schiavo of her life. Her biological family[the Schindlers] have endured the pain of knowing that Terri [their daughter, and sibling] was forced to go without food and water until she died from dehydration.

Three years ago the Greer Court, and those who sought, and were given the right to force death on Terri Schiavo, betrayed every God fearing American. They took over two hundred years of American history and turned it on its head. No longer are we a nation governed by "We, the People." The judges who were involved in the Terri Schiavo case made it clear that they didn't care what Americans thought.

She pleaded with Florida lawmakers in Tallahassee to intervene.

    No Dignity in Forced Death

    No Dignity in Forced Death

    by Janice Sanford

Oregon is the only state that allows physician assisted suicide. The Death with Dignity Act was first passed by Oregon voters in November 1994.

The use of narcotics and other dangerous drugs is generally prohibited by federal law except when a doctor prescribes them for a “legitimate medical purpose.”  On November 5, 1997, then-Drug Enforcement Administrator Thomas Constantine had announced that since assisting suicide is not "a legitimate medical purpose[,] . . . prescribing a controlled substance with the intent of assisting a suicide" violates federal law.

However, on June 5, 1998, Clinton Administration Attorney General Janet Reno partially overruled Constantine’s decision.  She agreed that "adverse action" might be warranted "where a physician assists in a suicide in a state that has not authorized the practice under any conditions, or where a physician fails to comply with state procedures in doing so.”  Nevertheless, she said federally controlled drugs could be prescribed to kill patients when legal under state law.
    http://www.nrlc.org/press_releases_new/release052604.html

Assisted suicide is against federal law but not state law.

In Oregon during 1998-2006, 86,047 Oregonians who suffered from the same underlying diseases died. Of these, 85,755 Oregonians died naturally. The other 292 people died as a result of Oregon's Death With Dignity Act. Which is to say they died after "ingesting" a lethal dose of drugs, that had been prescribed by a doctor.

Oregon's Death with Dignity Act legalizes physician-assisted suicide, but specifically prohibits euthanasia, where a physician or other person directly administers a medication to end another's life.

In 2005, about 1 in 800 Oregonians' deaths resulted from physician-assisted suicide.

Oregon's Revised Statutes specify that physician assisted suicide, under the Death with Dignity Act "does not constitute suicide, mercy killing or homicide under the Law."
    http://www.oregon.gov/DHS/ph/pas/ar-index.shtml

The time it took the 292 Oregonians to die ranged from 5 mins to 8.5 hours. These 292 Americans were mentally and physically able to decide and carryout their plans to die byway of assisted suicide. But how many of the 292 would be alive today if they had not drank the lethal drugs? I ask this question because some of those who received a prescription didn't use their 'poison' until the following year.

In 2004, poisoning suicides accounted for 5,800 of the 32,439 deaths that occurred that years as a result of people committing suicide, without physician assistants.

A few weeks ago I was surfing the net and come across a site with a video that documented the death of one Oregonian woman's physician-assisted suicide.

It was both the saddest, and the sickening thing I had ever wittiness.

It showed the woman the day of her death dancing, laughing, and enjoying her life. Among those present were some pro-deaths. When it came time for her to drink the lethal drugs she climbed into bed and told everyone how wonderful it was not only hearing the music but dancing the polka. She said how she wished she could dance on but the time had come for her to say good-bye. As she drank the deadly mixture, one pro-deather standing next to the bed kept telling her how good she was doing. Three minutes later the woman was in a deep coma. Five hours later she was dead.

Watching this I thought how could anyone stand silently bye and watch a loved one end their own life. Then it hit me those standing nearest the woman, urging her on to end her life were not family members. They were pro-deathers getting high off of watching 'another' physician-assisted suicide.

The Oregon woman who requested that the physician write her a prescription for a lethal drug did commit suicide. Though she was responsible for her death, she alone was not morally responsible for her death.

"Death with Dignity suicide" and "suicide by cop" have two important thing in common: cause and effect.

The "suicide by cop" victim relies on a cop to help him commit suicide.

The "Death with Dignity Suicide" victim relies on a doctor to help him end his life.

The big difference, between the two, being police officers are forced to help their victims commit suicide , and doctors have a choice of whether or not to assist in their victim's suicide.

This is where morals comes in to play.

I'm sure most of the readers have heard the saying, "what is legally right is not always morally right." Today, we are experiencing the fallout from laws that have no moral value.

It is the opinion of this writer, that assisted suicide in the name of "Death with Dignity" has no place in a civilized society.

By allowing state government, through its laws, to provide the tools for "assisted suicide" we are allowing the mind set of those who believe in the doctrine of "inequality among men" to thrive.

Suicide, whether or not it's physician asisted, is the needless waste of human life.

what do you think about the death with dignity act in cases were they are terminally ill & in alot of pain ?

I believe that if a person is terminal that with the 'right doctor' his/her life can be less painful and more enjoyable. I believe, instead of looking for reasons for why we should help people die, that we, as members of a freedom loving -society devoted to the high idea of 'equality among men', have a duty to look for reasons that have the potential to give the healthy and the unhealthy individuals the desire to live.

Morphine-The Angels of Death's Weapon of Choice

Morphine-The Angels of Death's Weapon of Choice

    by Janice Sanford

In the article, "Schiavo, Cruzan Cases Yield Valuable Lessons in Caring," author Paul Kleyman relates a story told by Mary Labyak, director of The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, where Terri Schiavo spent the last five years of her life. Labyak, whose father died six years earlier in the same room and bed as Schiavo, sees herself as an advocate for honoring people's end-of-life wishes but could not prevent her father from being "one of the most overtreated, extraordinarily treated elderly men in America." The decision to treat him rested with Labyak's mother who insisted on treatment.

Did Labyak's determination to keep Terri Schiavo under her control [by-way of her hospice]until she was forced to die have anything to do with the death of her own father?

Did Mary Labyak appoint herself Terri's "Angel of Death"? Was Schiavo forced to die " in the same room and bed" as Labyak's father for some demented purpose known only to Labyak?

Would Mary Labyak have peferred forcing her father's death over giving him every chance to live? Apparently, not being able to overrule her own mother's decisions [concerning her father] Mary Labyak found some kind of pleasure out of being able to overrule Terri Schiavo's mother Mary Schindler.

Many people have asked the question "why was Terri Schiavo's case more important than the other cases where life support is removed?" I can only speak for myself but Terri's case was a 'first' for me. For years I had been under the impression that nursing homes and hospice facilities were getting my tax dollars so they could provide care to the old and disabled. Since the Terri Schiavo case, I have dug deeper into what really takes place to some unsuspecting souls who spend the last months and sometimes years of their lives under hospice care.

    Death Angels in Hospice

One common method of hospice style euthanasia is to sedate the patient into a medically-induced coma and then either shut down the breathing through the over-administration of a narcotic like morphine or let the patient die of dehydration while in the prolonged coma (known as "terminal sedation")....

     http://www.hospicepatients.org/1-17-01-press-rel.html

On January 30,2008, I was notified that my aunt was dying and if I wanted to see her before she did I needed to come right then. I got dressed and drove the thirty or so miles to my cousin's home where my aunt had been living. I cannot tell you the feeling that overcome me looking at the 55 pound form of my aunt laying in that bed. I set in a chair next to her bed holding her hands. She was burning up with a fever. I watched her as she tried to open her eyes. It was as if she was trying to tell me something. She was under hospice. But the hospice nurse wasn't there. My cousin gave her liquid morphine through a syringe. She said the hospice nurse told her to give the morphine to my aunt every 4-6 hours. I thought it strange that my aunt who was showing no signs of being in pain would be given so much morphine. Before I left my aunt's bedside she managed  to open her eyes but could not speak. Her breathing was labored. Having lost my own mother without getting the chance to say my goodbyes I left my aunt surrounded by her children. I got a phone call that my aunt had died the next day.

I saw no dignity in the way my aunt was dying. And I'm sure my aunt was fighting to stay alive. The sad thing is hospices don't exist to help a person to live. They exist to help them die....But of course once the deed is done they can always blame a family member for the "morphine overdose" that killed their loved one.

765.309 Florida Statute:  Mercy Killing of Euthanasia Not Authorized; Suicide Distinguished. -- (1) Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to condone, authorize, or approve mercy killing or euthanasia, or to permit any affirmative or deliberate act of omission to end the life other than to permit the natural process of dying. (2) The withholding or withdrawal of life-prolonging procedures from a patient in accordance with any provision of this chapter does not, for any purpose, constitute a suicide.

458.326 Florida Statute: Intractable Pain; Authorized Treatment. -- (4) Nothing in this section shall be construed to condone, authorize, or approve mercy killing or euthanasia, and no treatment authorized by this section may be used for such purpose.

782.08 Florida Statute: Assisting Self-Murder. -- Every person deliberately assisting another in the commission of self-murder shall be guilty of manslaughter, a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s.775.082, s. 775.083 or s.775.084.

    http://www.flsenate.gov/Statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=&URL=Ch0744/SEC3145.HTM&Title=->2003->Ch0744->Section%203145

Mercy killing ain't legal. Euthanasia is not legal. So why are the self appointed 'death angels' still walking free to force death on unsuspecting Americans?

A few years ago, if someone had told me that disabled Americans were being euthanized against their will- without their knowledge,  I would have flat-out-and-out called them "a liar." Back then, I had never heard the name Terri Schiavo.

Now, if someone were to walk up to me and say "hospice over doses people for the purpose of forcing them to die," I would believe them.

Before you sign your life away~ read the fine print. Before you give your loved one that morphine-check with a doctor who is not associated with any hospice.

When Did Michael Schiavo Call 911?

When Did Michael Schiavo Call 911?

    by Janice Sanford

Refusing to give up on the Terri Schiavo case, Gov. Jeb Bush has asked Pinellas prosecutors to sort out time discrepancies Michael Schiavo has provided regarding the hour he found his wife unconscious 15 years ago.<snip>"We are going to look into the circumstances surrounding the times," said [Bruce] Bartlett, who declined to label the review an investigation. "The governor has expressed concern over that aspect of the case."

Michael Schiavo has said he called 911 immediately after finding his wife collapsed on the floor of their home on Feb. 25, 1990. Though medical records indicate he called 911 about 5:40 a.m. that day, he told the Medical Examiner's Office recently that he found his wife about 4:30 a.m. <snip> Felos said it's impossible that 70 minutes elapsed before Michael Schiavo called 911. http://www.sptimes.com/2005/06/17/Tampabay/Schiavo_timeline_trou.shtml

In asking McCabe to look again into what put Schiavo in a persistent vegetative state, Bush had cited an alleged gap between when Schiavo's husband Michael found her and when he called 911. The governor had said the issue remained unsettled.

McCabe said, however, while such discrepancies may exist in the record, Michael Schiavo's statements that he called 911 immediately had been consistent.

    Let's Take Another Look!

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department's 1990 police report, that was rewritten in 2003 by Officer Phillip R. Brewer:

    5:40 paramedics called for assistance
6:11 officers Phillip Brewer and Officer Rodney Tower[from Homicide] were dispatched
6:33 officers arrived at the Schiavo's Thunderbay apartment
    8:55 investigation was completed

It took the St. Petersburg officers 22 minutes to reach "incident" address.

The police were called because of her [Terri Schiavo's] age and because the situation seemed unusual.- Police Report
According to the police report: He [Michael Schiavo] found her [Terri] unconscious on the floor and called paramedics.

According to the police report:  Terri's blood alcohol level measured at "less than 10", which a nurse described as being the bottom of the scale.

Note: Terri Schiavo had drink some kind of alcoholic beverage the night of her collapse. [But that's another story.] http://www.hospicepatients.org/police-report-02-25-90-terri-schiavo-collapse.pdf

    The Autopsy

5:52 Paramedics began treating Terri Schiavo.
    6:32 A pulse was documented.
6:46 Terri Schiavo arrived at Humana Hospital-Northside.
6:46 A measurable systolic blood pressure was recorded.
7:01 One hour after her initial collapse and after over 30 minutes of CPR, Terri's blood sample showed hypokalemia  [2.0 mmol/L, normal 3.5-5.0].  http://abstractappeal.com/schiavo/autopsyreport.pdf

Michael Schiavo's 1992 Testimony: says he found his wife collapsed at 5 a.m.

According to the medical records given to Dr. Jon Thogmartin [Pinellas-Pasco medical examiner] Terri collapsed at 6:00 a.m.

Attorney David Gibbs said Michael Schiavo "didn't call 911 until 5:40 a.m."

"The police department records indicate that I made the call at 5:40 on Sunday, February 25, 1990. I'll take their word for it." [Michael Schiavo, Terri the Truth, page 3]
